Wickens

Project brief:

  • Reduce time wastage
  • Reduce solvent waste/usage,
  • Introduce control and proceedure to paint department
  • Heaters to control paint viscosity (same temperature 365 days a year)

The system consists of:

  • 4 x main paint colours
  • 4 x heaters
  • 4 x re-circulation system
  • 1 x solvent
  • 1 x pneumatic selector
  • valve stock

This system we installed for Wickens reduces colour change time to as little as 30 seconds, reduces the solvent usage from litres to milliletres and reduces paint usage.

This is achieved by not requiring pump washout, colour change can be made without operator moving from the spray area (simply press a button.)

ROI Indication: based on 4 changes per day.

Hours saved = 2 @ £10 per hr (£20 saved.)

Paint litres saved = 5 @ £5 per ltr (£25 saved.)

Solvent litres saved = 15 @ £1 per ltr (£15 saved.)

Conservative estimate:

£60 saved per day.

£300 saved per week.

£13800 per year.

Payback in 24 months and increase in product throughput.

Specified, supplied and installed by Total Coating Systems.

Benlowe

This project was undertaken for a joinery company manufacturing doors and windows.

Due to increased production and market share growth, the company's existing paint line was not able to cope with the demands placed on it. We evaluated the system and the volume of product to pass through the line, there after we determined the changes required to deliver the customer the right solution with adequate future proofing.

By re-working the existing design, introducing a new conveyor with variable drive, newly extended oven with a series of emitters and a new air re-circulation system, the customer now has no longer got a potential bottleneck in the paint shop.

Planning ahead is always the best way to progress quickly, efficiently and smoothly.

This being the case, we planned and implemented the installation of a large paint facility with one of our customers that incorporates four spray rooms, one prep room and two drying rooms. Re-circulation and extraction of air, heating, lighting and programmable controls all had to be interlinked.

This is the show piece for one of our prestigious customers who are also in the wood industry. See picture of the project at near completion.
